TV Overnights: Penultimate Marchlands banks 5.7m viewers

The penultimate episode of Marchlands secured the peak-hour ratings with more than 5.7 million peak viewers last night.

The ITV1 drama achieved an average audience of more than 5.3 million viewers and a 21.6% audience share between 9pm and 10pm.

On BBC One, Masterchef continued with 4.7 million viewers and a 19.3% audience share, while BBC Two’s The Spice Trail pulled in 1.9 million viewers and a 7.7% share.

At the same time, Channel 4’s final Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day attracted 1.3 million average viewers and a 5.3% share.

Over on Channel 5, the 9 o’clock film Mercenary for Justice picked up over a million viewers and a 4.7% share.

The soaps dominated the pre-watershed slots, with ITV1’s Coronation Street winning the highest overall audience – 8.3 million viewers. BBC One’s Eastenders, meanwhile, peaked with 8 million viewers.
