TV Overnights: Penultimate Silk wins the peak-hour top spot

BBC One’s Silk attracted more than 4.9 million viewers last night to claim the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour ratings.

The penultimate episode pulled in 4.8 million consistent viewers and a 20.7% average audience share during the hour-long slot, ahead of ITV1’s Caroline Quentin: A Passage Through India and Channel 4’s Katie: My Beautiful Friends.

The last in the series of ITV1’s documentary series with actress Caroline Quentin was BBC One’s closest competitor with 2.4 million average viewers and a 10.3% audience share.

Next in line was Channel 5’s popular CSI: Crime Scene Investigation with 2.3 million viewers and a 9.9% average share.

At the same time, Channel 4’s new four-part documentary series Katie: My Beautiful Friends, which follows Katie Piper as she sets out to help people overcome insecurities caused by disfigurement, picked up 1.7 million viewers and a 7.3% average share.

On BBC Two, the second episode of Bible’s Buried Secrets achieved an average audience of 1.3 million viewers and a 5.9% share between 9pm and 10pm.

However, the soaps banked the highest ratings of the night – BBC One’s Eastenders led the way with 9.6 million peak viewers, while ITV1’s Emmerdale secured 7 million peak viewers.
