TV Overnights: Second Candy Cabs wins 4.3m viewers

The second episode of BBC One’s new peak-hour drama Candy Cabs banked the top ratings last night with 4.3 million viewers.

The hour-long show attracted more than 4.2 million average viewers and a 17.6% share during the full 9pm to 10pm slot.

At the same time, the concluding part of ITV1’s Smugglers – a documentary following the UK Border Agency – pulled in 3.1 million average viewers and a 13.1% share.

On Channel 5, the popular CSI: Crime Scene Investigation achieved an average audience of more than 2.2 million viewers and a 9.2% share, while BBC Two’s Filthy Cities settled on 1.8 million viewers and a 7.6% share.

The last in the series of Channel 4’s Katie: My Beautiful Friends came last in the peak-hour ratings war with 1.3 million average viewers and a 5.6% share.

BBC One also dominated the pre-watershed line-up with Eastenders and Holby City. The long-running soap peaked with 8.4 million viewers, while the BBC hospital drama attracted a high of 5.5 million viewers.
