BBC One’s Silent Witness continued with more than seven million peak viewers during last night’s all-important 9pm to 10pm slot.

The popular crime drama easily secured the peak ratings with 6.9 million average viewers and a 26.6% audience share during the peak-hour ahead of ITV1’s The Biggest Loser and Channel 4’s One Born Every Minute.

The Biggest Loser attracted 3.4 million average viewers and a 13.4% share between 9pm and 10pm, while the emotional fly-on-the-wall documentary One Born Every Minute pulled in 2.3 million average viewers and a 9.1% share.

Over on BBC Two, the third episode of Horizon: Science Under Attack achieved an average audience of 1.3 million viewers and a 5% audience share during the peak-hour.

At the same time, 1.1 million viewers tuned in to Channel 5 for the 9 o’clock film Layer Cake, starring Daniel Craig and Sienna Miller.

The soaps dominated the pre-watershed ratings. BBC One’s Eastenders and ITV1’s Coronation Street both banked an equal 9.7 million peak viewers, while ITV1’s Emmerdale secured 8.1 million.
