TV Overnights: The Reckoning debuts with 5.6m viewers

The Reckoning

ITV1’s new prime time drama The Reckoning started on a high of more than 5.6 million peak viewers last night.

The two-part thriller, starring Ashley Jenson and Max Beesley, attracted five million average viewers and a 21.2% audience share during the hour-long 9pm to 10pm slot.

However, it lost the top ratings to BBC One’s Motorway Cops in the last fifteen minutes of the peak-hour. Motorway Cops peaked with 4.5 million viewers in the 9pm to 10pm slot.

At the same time, Channel 4’s new documentary Meet the Middletons, which examined Kate’s extended family ahead of the Royal Wedding, achieved an average audience of 1.9 million viewers and a 8.3% share.

On Channel 5, the new series of Alex Polizzi’s The Hotel Inspector pulled in over 1.5 million average viewers and a 6.5% share, while BBC Two’s new documentary Fix My Family picked up 959,000 viewers and a 4% share.

The soaps dominated the pre-watershed line-up. BBC One’s Eastenders secured the highest ratings of the night, peaking with more than 10.2 million viewers as the Ronnie and Kat baby story continues to unfold.

On ITV1, Emmerdale banked more than seven million peak viewers, while Coronation Street peaked with nine million viewers.
