The X Factor

ITV1 dominated the weekend ratings with The X Factor semi-final and the last of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!

On Saturday, the first of two X Factor shows attracted more than 13 million viewers and a 49.4% average audience share between 8pm and 9.30pm.

However, yesterday’s result show pulled in even higher numbers.  Over 14.2 million peak viewers tuned in to see Danyl Johnson get voted off the talent show a week before the grand final, leaving Olly, Stacey and Joe to battle it out for the top place next weekend.

On Friday, the two-hour-long I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! final secured the top spot with more than 10.4 million peak viewers.  Gino was crowned king of the jungle this year, after seeing off competition from Kim and Jimmy.

The last in the series picked up over 9.6 million average viewers and a 40.4% audience share for ITV1 between 8.30pm and 10.30pm.  The channel also claimed the top soap spot on Friday with Coronation Street, which hit a high of 8.3 million viewers.

However, BBC One did get a slight look in over the weekend.  On Friday, the channel’s flagship soap Eastenders pulled in more than 8 million peak viewers and a 36.5% audience share between 8pm and 8.30pm.

Friday Night with Jonathan Ross also secured the highest ratings later on in the evening, picking up 3.3 million average viewers and a 21.9% audience share between 10.35pm and 11.35pm.

BBC One also banked the peak audience throughout most of Saturday daytime with its Rugby Union coverage, Final Score, Hole in the Wall, Merlin and the majority of Strictly Come Dancing, which attracted over 9.8 million peak viewers.

Strictly‘s results show also secured the top spot between 9.30pm and 10pm, followed by Match of the Day, which pulled in more than 4.6 million peak viewers from 10.30pm onwards.
