TV Overnights: Waking the Dead secures 5.5m viewers

BBC One’s Waking the Dead walked away with more than 5.5 million viewers to claim the all-important 9pm to 10pm top spot last night.

The second part of the BBC One series attracted 5.4 million average viewers and a 21.5% audience share during the peak-hour, seeing off competition from ITV1’s Law & Order: UK.

The ITV1 crime drama settled on a lower 3.8 million viewers and a 15.3% share.

On  Channel 4, One Born Every Minute continued with 1.7 million viewers and a 6.8% share between 9pm and 10pm, while Channel 5’s 9 o’clock film Executive Decision achieved an average audience of just over a million viewers and a 5.5% share.

Meanwhile, BBC Two’s new six-part series Lambing Live with Kate Humble and Adam Henson started on a high of more than 2.4 million viewers and a 9.4% average share between 8.30pm and 10pm.

In the early evening slots, BBC One’s Eastenders achieved the highest audience of the night, peaking with 9.1 million viewers. Although ITV1’s Coronation Street wasn’t far behind with 8.8 million peak viewers.
