Who do you think you are?

BBC One’s Who do you think  you are? won the peak slot of 9pm to 10pm last night, for the fifth week in a row.

This week’s show, looking at Rupert Penry-Jones’s ancestry, attracted 5.2 million viewers, and a 21.4% share – slightly down on last week’s 5.4 million, and 22.3% share.

BBC Two’s Dragons’ Den provided competition, managing to attract an audience of 2.8 million viewers, and gain a share of 11.5%.

Elsewhere, ITV’s new Real Crime with Mark Austin secured 2.7 million viewers and a 10.9% share, while Channel 4’s The Hospital achieved an audience of 1.4 million and a 5.8% share.

Five’s film Inferno managed 1.3 million viewers and an average 5.9% share overall.

ITV1 won the 7pm to 8pm slot, with Emmerdale (7pm to 7.30pm) securing 6.2 million viewers and a 32% share, and the first of a Coronation Street two-parter (7.30pm to 8pm) achieving 7.9 million viewers and a 37.9% share.

During the same slot, BBC One’s The One Show significantly increased its audience – from 3.9 million and a 20.1% share last week, to 4.5 million and 23.1% last night. This is probably because it was the first show with new presenters Alex Jones and Jason Manford.

BBC One’s Eastenders won the 8pm to 8.30pm slot, with 8 million viewers and a 34.9% share.

ITV1’s second episode of Coronation Street, showing from 8.30pm to 9pm, won the highest ratings for its slot, with 7.8 million viewers, and a share of 33.6%.

During the day, BBC One nominated the morning television schedule, with BBC Two taking over in the afternoon.
