TV Revenue – August 1998

Agency estimates for August 1998 put total terrestrial TV (including GMTV) ad revenue at £166.98 million. Year on year, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 show increases in revenue and GMTV continues to lose advertising income.

ITV’s total revenue was up by 12.9%, C4’s rose by 11.2% and C5’s revenue was up by 36.0% year on year. GMTV is down by 16.1% on August 1997.

In terms of share amongst the ITV franchises, Carlton suffered the greatest loss of share, down by 0.58% points to 15.3%. Granada/Border had a strong month, attaining a 12.0% share of ITV revenue, up 0.84% year on year. The other regions’ shares remained pretty steady year on year.
