TV Round-Up – November 1999
Revenue Total terrestrial television revenue for November 1999 (including GMTV) came in at £274.9 million, according to agency estimates. The ITV Network’s total revenue was up 10.2% on November 1998; Channel 4’s was up 5.4% Channel 5 saw a year on year rise of 15.1%.
Revenue for GMTV grew year on year in November by 3.3%, whilst total satellite grew by 25.9% year on year.
Looking at share amongst the ITV franchises, Central takes the largest slice of the money, with a 17.4% share. London’s weekday broadcaster, Carlton, came in second place, up 0.5% points on last year with a 16.0% share. The second London franchise, LWT, took the third biggest chunk, at 11.4%.
Commercial Impacts November was a strong month all round for commercial impacts, with every audience category on every channel showing a year on year improvement. On ITV Women rose the most compared to November last year, up by 5.8%; ABC1 Adults on ITV were up 2.1%. Channel 4 saw ABC1 impacts grow by 11.4%, whilst Channel 5 continues to strengthen for all audience types.
Costs Per Thousand Costs on ITV rose across all audience categories, whilst Channel 4 and Channel 5 saw all but two categories fall year on year. ITV ABC1 adults CPTs were up 8.0%; the ABC1 costs on C4 and C5 fell by 5.4% and 8.1% respectively.
