TV Viewing Summary – Wallace And Gromit Give BBC2 Biggest Audience

Nick Park’s animation film A Close Shave shown on Christmas Eve has given BBC2 its highest audience figure for 1995 of 10.62 million viewers. The 30 minute comedy thriller attracted a TVR of 20 and consolidated share of viewing audience of 41% easily beating Wallace & Gromit’s nearest rival Cliff Richard by over 2 million viewers and appears at number 19 on the top 30 programme list, the only BBC2 programme to make the list this year.
Other programmes doing well in the week up to Christmas Eve include Xmas You’ve Been Framed which was watched by 11.11 million viewers, BBC1’s All The Best For Christmas which had an audience of 10.73 million, the final of Gladiators which was seen by 11.18 million people and the Christmas special of 2 Point 4 Children which had 9.31 million viewers.
Total television viewing for the week ending 24/12/95 has fallen by 1.8% when compared to the same week last year. In Astra Panel homes the channel that has increased the most on its previous week total is BBC1 up from 6 hours and 2 minutes last week to 7 hours and 16 minutes
