TV Viewing Summary W/E 03/08/97

Coronation Street leads the way as usual this week with an average viewing figure of 13.32 million over its four episodes, with Eastenders achieving an average of 12.26 million.

The Westcountry thriller series Wycliffe retains its place as top drama of the week, watched by 10.63 million. Robson and Jerome return to the screen in the new Anglia drama Ain’t Misbehavin’, watched by 9.09 million. Inspector Morse still stands as the most popular drama repeat, achieving an audience of 9.78 million. Comedies mainly feature in the form of repeats with Keeping Up Appearances (7.43m) and Only Fools And Horses (7.16m). There is one new entry on the sitcom front, the BBC’s Pilgrims Rest watched by 7.63 million.

No change at the top of the Channel 4 chart with Friends still reigning supreme, this week seen by an audience of 5.11 million. Frasier (3.23 million) holds on to the number three slot, amidst the usual episodes of Brookside and Countdown. Channel 5’s top show of the week was the film House Of Games seen by 1.26 million.
