TV Viewing Summary W/E 04/10/98

There is a new addition to the Astra Panel viewing summary this week, with children’s channel Trouble reporting figures for the first time. In Astra Panel homes Trouble was watched for an average of 7 minutes by individuals (4+), had a weekly viewing share of 0.5%, an average daily reach of 2.5% and an average weekly reach of 9.6%.

The full extent of the last minute changes to the ITV schedule, caused by the late kick off of the Champions’ League match between Arsenal and Panathinaikos, can be seen with the release of the consolidated viewing figures. Wednesday’s edition of Coronation Street only managed to pull in 10.43 million viewers, over 4 million less than the average figure for the Sunday, Monday and Friday episodes.

Interestingly, ITV’s coverage of the football proved to be less popular than BBC1 science programme Tomorrow’s World, which started at the same time of 7.30pm and was watched by 7.56 million people compared to 7.38 million for Champion’s League match.
