TV Viewing Summary W/E 06/07/1997

Coronation Street takes an average audience figure of 14.13 million over its four episodes this week, with Eastenders watched by an average of 13.61 million. So, no real change in the top five week-on-week. Overall, the chart remains more or less unchanged with regards to its content. The only real difference being a slight overall decline in viewing figures, probably due to the good weather and lack of new programmes coming to our screens at present.

The very repeatable Touch Of Frost comes in as the top drama of the week, watched by 10.20 million viewers, pushing HTV’s Wycliffe a couple of places down the chart, it attacted an audience of 9.83 million compared to the previous week’s 11.28 million. No other significant news in the drama field and much the same with regards to this week’s comedy offerings. Only Fools And Horses is the top comedy of the week, attracting an audience of 9.63 million, down on the previous week’s 10.50 million.

Over on Channel 4 ,the new series of Friends has hit the target with an audience of 5.93 million. This makes it one of the Channel’s highest figures of the year so far, only really outdone by the screening of Four Weddings And A Funeral which attracted 7.32 million in May.

A bit of a rarity on Channel 5, with a documentary taking the top spot. Camilla, a portrait of the Prince Of Wales’ close companion was seen by 1.25 million.
