TV Viewing Summary W/E 16/08/98

In a resurrection not seen since Lazarus returned from the grave, ITV’s Babes In The Wood rebounds from successive weeks of falling audience figures to capture an audience of 7.69 million. There is also a turn around in fortunes for ITV’s other new comedy series Duck Patrol, up from last week’s figure of 5.93 million to 6.96 million this week. The most watched comedy of the week is still the repeats of Men Behaving Badly which attracted 7.92 million viewers.
Coronation Street keeps its position as the most watched soap (and programme) of the week. Monday’s episode, which featured Mike Baldwin preparing to sack he/she machinist Hayley, was watched by 13.55 million people. Over of BBC1 the most watched episode of Eastenders was on Thursday and had an audience of 13.03 million. The only other soap to make the top thirty programme list was ITV’s Emmerdale, with its most watched episode getting an audience just under 11 million (10.96).
Changing Rooms continues to perform well, with an audience of 10.07 million. The most watched factual programme is Richard Madeley’s Eye of the Storm which had an audience of 8.73 million. The most popular drama of the week was the repeat of Touch Of Frost (8.46 million)
Man United’s Champions’ League qualifying match against LKS Lodz just makes it into the list with 6.71 million viewers. The only film to chart this week was BBC1’s Addams Family Values, watched by 8.03 million people.
