TV Viewing Summary W/E 22/06/96

Coronation Street is only just first past the post this week with an average viewing figure of 14.19 million compared to Eastenders average of 14.00 million. The latest batch of fly-on-the-wall documentaries continue to do well. The BBC lead the field with The Driving School entering the top ten, watched by 11.16 million. Both Airport (9.56 million) and Crime Beat (9.52 million) are in the top twenty. All three programmes continuing their week-on-week improvement.
It looks like Frost has finally met his match: The BBC Drama Dalziel & Pascoe moves up into the position of top drama of the week, watched by 11.03 million. The bad news continues for ITV’s Bliss, watched by 7.79 million this week, a slight improvement on the previous figure of 6.88 million, but still no doubt a disappointment. The National Lottery is still trying to recover from its downward trend but only managed to attract 9.67 million viewers this week.
Over on Channel 4, the ever popular Friends returns to the top ten, watched by an audience of 2.86 million with the Channels usual favourites, E.R., Brookside, and Countdown making-up the rest of the chart. Channel 5 continues its run of low audiences, the high of the week being a rather small 1.07 million who tuned in to watch the film Yellowbeard.
