TV Viewing Summary – W/E 28th September
ITV continue to perform well on the drama front this week, even though virtually all of their offerings come from the ‘yet another series of’ stable. Heartbeat just failed to pass Coronation Street for the top slot, whilst London’s Burning after one week’s absence returns to its regular position in the Top 10. The new series of Soldier, Soldier, perhaps suffering from the strain of time, only makes it in at number 20 (9.3 million). ITV’s only new drama The Uninvited has done reasonably well with 8.9 million viewers – considerably better than BBC1’s two new highly publicised dramas which have run over the past few weeks, namely The Locksmith and Jimmy McGovern’s The Lakes – both of which have less viewers the BBC2’s Changing Rooms which achieved a very commendable 6.9 million viewers to make it the top BBC2 programme (more even than C4’s Friends – 5.72m).
The only ‘comic’ offering in the Top 30 comes from the BBC’s Dad, just scrapping in behind Strike It Rich – no place this week for the channel’s new hope Bloomin Marvelous.
On the soap front all four episode of Coronation Street achieved a higher audience than Eastenders – with an average of 15.26m compared to 13.79m.
