Two Way TV Announces Sports Deal With ITV

Armchair supporters will now have a chance to voice their frustration if their favourite football team isn’t doing well. Interactive television company Two Way TV has made an agreement with ITV Sport to create live, interactive sports services and games for digital cable viewers on NTL’s Cable & Wireless networks.

The services will mean viewers can make pre-game predictions and action calls when events are in progress. Viewers at home can already compete against each other for prizes in quizzes and gameshows on Two Way TV, and will shortly be able to compete with on-screen contestants as well (see Two Way TV To Launch Interactive Versions Of Popular Quiz Shows). Topical sports events will now be included in these games, along with classic coverage from the ITV Sport archive.

The deal with ITV Sport extends to include distribution over all digital TV platforms including cable, satellite and terrestrial.

Tracy Munro, head of business affairs for Two Way TV said, “By building third party channel relationships, programming genres- notably sport- can benefit from interactivity.”

Two Way TV is due to roll out on Telewest digital this summer.
