Tyne Tees Television To Change Name

Tyne Tees Television is to change its name in September to Channel 3 North East.

The move is a bid to reflect the changing nature of the region which, according to a Tyne Tees spokeswoman, has recently experienced “a major regeneration”. Yorkshire TV, Tyne Tees’ sister company, will retain its identity as will the parent company Yorkshire Tyne Tees Television.

The move coincides with news that other television companies are planning to revamp their identities: Bravo, LWT and the BBC have all announced that they will be changing their logos and ITV has recently begun branding itself as ITV3 in a bid to ward off competition from non-terrestrial channels and Channel 5.
