UBC Media has secured the contract to provide 23 Capital Radio stations with traffic and travel information based on data from its provider, Trafficlink, building the company’s profile and adding significantly to its travel client portfolio.
The move will see UBC handle traffic updates on a range of Capital-owned stations, including Capital FM, XFM, BRMB and the Century Network, with a combined weekly reach of 7.8 million listeners.
The deal, which lasts for a year, brings the number of stations subscribing to UBC’s traffic and travel services to over 200, with the company’s growing client list already including some of the biggest names in radio. UBC already provides traffic and travel news to EMAP, GWR, The Wireless Group, Chrysalis Radio, Guardian Media Group and UKRD.
Commenting on the latest contract win, Simon Cole, chief executive of UBC Media, said: “I’m delighted that UBC has been awarded this contract by Capital. We’re now the undisputed leaders in the provision of traffic and travel services to commercial radio stations and we look forward to working with Capital in the year ahead. Listeners to Capital Radio expect high quality, up to the minute traffic and travel advice, and that is exactly what they will get on all of Capital’s stations across the country.”
Earlier this year saw UBC secure the rights to provide Emap Radio with travel information, with the two companies consolidating their radio airtime sales operations and UBC claiming it would now be able to offer 169 million adult impacts each week (see UBC Joins Sales Forces With Emap For Traffic And Travel).
