UK Gold has unveiled a new autumn programming schedule which includes twenty-six new satellite premiere series in addition to six newly commissioned original shows.
August features a month-long comedy festival as an antidote to the long summer of sport. Under the strap-line All The Laughs You’ll Ever Need, new series to UK Gold include Not The Nine O’clock News, Ever Decreasing Circles, You Rang M’Lord and the Les Dawson Show.
UK Gold also completed its biggest ever third part acquisition deal with MCA International. Newly acquired series include The Equaliser, Kojak, The A Team, The Rockford Files and Ironside. September will also see the launch of a revamped Saturday night schedule including a new sub-brand entitled Cops, Spies And Private Eyes in addition to the MCA titles. UK Gold is also in the midst of a ‘hectic’ original production schedule, with 220 half-hour shows being recorded by the end of August.
Director of programmes Andrew Keyte said: “In the last six months we have launched six mini-channels, rebranded large parts of our schedule, embarked on an ambitious production programme and acquired many new quality shows for our late summer/autumn season. With our share steadily increasing and our best ever schedule still to come, we are hugely confident that the channel will continue to build on its past successes.”
