UK: Meeting On Car Advertising
The Advertising Association is organizing a meeting on 10 February between representatives of trade groups in the advertising and media sectors and the EC and UK government officials, in order to consider the current attitudes and future plans of the EC for car advertising. EC officials have suggested that various car advertisements in the UK should not have appeared, on safety grounds, and that the industry is flouting its own self-regulatory rules in the making of car advertisements. The Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) in the UK is to propose a European code as a key UK Presidency initiative.
