UK: Tighter Code For “Alcopops”
The Portman Group has proposed new regulations on the sale and marketing of “alcopops”. They include requiring retailers not to stock alcoholic drinks that are marketed to the under-18s, and a ban on the use of pictures of people who appear to be under 25 on labels. Producers are also to be discouraged from using the words “lemonade” and “cola” on the labels. The proposals will now be considered by the Office of Fair Trading.
