The UK broadcasts of NBC Europe are to be converted to the National Geographic Channel from 1 July this year. The change to National Geographic programming in the UK continues NBC’s partnership with the company in the US and Europe.
The NBC news and entertainment format will continue to be broadcast in Germany and German-speaking regions. The National Geographic programming will broadcast to the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary and Israel.
The National Geographic Channel Europe will continue to air CNBC and NBC News material in a six-hour block from 6:00am to noon (central European time).
Tim Kelly, president of National Geographic Television, said: “This is a quantum leap for National Geographic Channels Worldwide. This expansion proves that National Geographic’s unique editorial voice has strong worldwide appeal.”
