United vs City Derby Attracts 11 Million

BBC1’s Sunday edition of Match Of The Day featuring the FA Cup match between Manchester United and their local rivals Manchester City has attracted an audience of 10.85 million viewers and a consolidated share of viewing of 56%. This is 0.9 million more viewers than the only other football match to feature in the top thirty programmes list this year, which was the Arsenal versus Newcastle Coca Cola Quarter final shown in January.

The new series of the New Adventures Of Superman has zoomed faster than a speeding bullet into the top thirty programmes list entering at number 21 with 11.14 million viewers, helping BBC1 consolidate its Saturday night schedule.

Total television viewing for the week ending 18th February 1996 has fallen by 1.4% when compared to the same week last year. In Astra panel homes the station that has improved the most on its previous week’s total is Sky Sports, which has increased by 11 minutes to 1 hour and 2 minutes viewed.
