Universal Launches New Media Operation

Universal McCann Manchester has launched a second media operation in conjunction with SBW Marketing Communications to be called Universal SBW.

Housed within SBW Marketing’s building, the new venture will be managed by Chris Pownall who is currently a senior member of Universal McCann. Sue Little, managing director of Universal McCann Manchester explained why the move was taking place: “Over the past twelvemonths, Universal McCann Manchester’s billings have seen a 30% increase. Very importantly, we appreciate that one of the reasons for this success is the integration of the media independent into the integrated agency and it is that integration that we intend to replicate with Universal SBW.”

Simon Howitt, managing director of SBW, said that he is keen to use Universal’s buying clout to help the company “provide an excellent media service.”
