Magna has released its latest On-Demand Quarterly report, forecasting that US digital video recorder (DVR) subscriber households will hit 53 million (44% of US TV households) by the end of 2015.

Magna also expects that true managed services-based video-on-demand will reach nearly 66 million households (approximately 54% of television households) by this date.

It estimates that 71.6 million households had broadband access as of the end of the third quarter of 2009, 61% of the country’s 117 million households, with this figure expected to rise to cover 89.6 million households by the end of 2015

In November, a report from Leichtman Research Group revealed that 36% of TV households in the United States have at least one  DVR – an increase from just 8% four years ago.

The study also found that 63% of all digital cable subscribers have ever used VOD, with 88% of this group having watched an on-demand program or movie in the past month.
