Van Outen To Leave Capital

Denise Van Outen And Johnny Vaughan Denise Van Outen’s future at 95.8 Capital FM is in jeopardy, following reports in the national press that she is quitting the show just months into her year-long contract.

Van Outen is said to be “knackered” as a result of juggling her breakfast show on Capital, alongside co-host Johnny Vaughan, with her TV commitments.

The presenter is under contract until February next year but reports say this is currently being reviewed following her meeting with Capital producers at GCap last month.

Van Outen took the job at Capital at the same time as she agreed to be a panellist on BBC1’s I’d Do Anything, before starting on her recent ITV1 show Who Dares Sings and Sky One’s Hairspray: The School Musical.

Sources close to Van Outen told the Sun: “She underestimated the radio show and has been trying to leave for some time.”

GCap reunited Van Outen and Vaughan on Capital’s breakfast show in an attempt to significantly boost audiences, however, latest Rajar figures for the 6am to 10am slot show just a 0.1% quarter on quarter increase to 944,000 listeners, up from 940,00 in June 2007.
