Viacom Outdoor Launches Ticket Gateway Advertising

Viacom Outdoor has launched a new initiative to allow brands to advertise on ticket gateways on London Underground’s tube network.
The initiative, which will run for six weeks from 9 December, will be made available on over 130 ticket gateways at stations across central London, including Green Park, Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Bond Street.
A spokesperson for Viacom commented: “We expect to run our first campaign before Christmas and its great timing for the launch because so many people will be out doing their Christmas shopping.”
Advertisers will be given the option of placing different messages on either side of the ticket barriers, to give shoppers different messages as they leave the stations.
Earlier this month Viacom Outdoor announced another new initiative which will offer advertisers the opportunity to sponsor buskers across London Underground’s tube network.(see Viacom Outdoor Plans Sponsored Buskers)
Viacom Outdoor has been in the news recently following a string of delays to its much anticipated XTP project. The system, which was supposed to launch in April this year, is facing problems over financing (see Viacom Outdoor Delays Launch of XTP). Outdoor buying company Blade has estimated the delay could cost the industry £10 million in revenue this year alone (see XTP Delay Could Cost Outdoor Industry £10m).
