Online video production and publishing company Videojug Networks has appointed British TV director and producer, Paul Jackson, to become consultant of content and channels.
Jackson – who has worked on shows including Red Dwarf, Bottom, The Best of Two Ronnies and Hell’s Kitchen – will be responsible for developing videojug.com into a competitor for platforms such as BuzzFeed and Vice, and to enhance Videojug Network’s content production capabilities for brands and agency partners.
During his TV career, Jackson has worked for broadcasters including the BBC, Granada, Carlton and ITV Networks, as well as being the founding chairman of Comic Relief.
“It’s a great opportunity to be working in the online video market and I think there is huge opportunity for Videojug to develop into a global entertainment platform for short-form video,” said Jackson.
“There is growing demand from brands and agency partners for great original video content with humour and compelling stories that engage consumers and we will move rapidly to answer this need.”
Gareth Mugford, Videojug’s commercial director, added: “It’s thrilling to have such a great mind working with Videojug Networks on behalf of out client roster of brands and agencies.
“There is a content battle going on in the world of online video and Paul’s expertise will allow us to offer competitive advantage that will be of huge value to our clients.”
Videojug has also announced that it will be encouraging new writers and video producers to offer video content on its website, as it looks to build on its distribution network.
