Viewers Still In Favour Of Regional Programming

An NOP poll has found that 74% of British viewers consider ITV serves the needs and interests of their region better than any other TV channel. The poll found that ITV’s regional news service was more popular than the alternative offered by the BBC. 58% preferred ITV regional news to the service provided by the BBC.

ITV is using the findings of the report to try to persuade the new Labour government that it is committed to regional programming. The network is hoping that the government will take this into account when setting the ITV licence payments next year.
