Virgin Cinemas has announced details of further cinema building, with several new sites expected to be finished by the year 2000. Currently Virgin is already unveiling nine new venues in 1998 and the new venues will funded out of Virgin £34.5 million capital investment programme.
Sites in Aberdeen, Boldon South Shields, and Newport will open by the end of this year, with further sites in Ipswich, Bolton, Edinburgh and Sheffield. The sites for Birmingham Great Park and Crawley will open towards the end of the century.
Virgin Cinema’s Andrew Beshaw says: “We are looking at unveiling more than 200 new screens in the next twelve months alone. The breadth of experience offered to customers on-site in a single evening is already proving very popular at our sites in Wigan and Rochester which opened last year.”
