Virgin Radio Appoints New Head Of Sponsorship
Virgin Radio has promoted its sponsorship account manager, Louise Reeves, to the role of head of sponsorship.
Reeves joined Virgin Radio three years ago and has a range of experience throughout the station’s sales department, including a stint as senior sales executive in new media and promotions.
She said: “I look forward to making sure our sponsorships deliver for the client, station and listener.”
Virgin Radio’s promotions director, Brian Commins, added: “Virgin Radio had the nation’s first sponsored breakfast show and has always broken new ground with innovative sponsorship deals, we look to Louise to continue our market leading position.”
The latest figures from the RAB show that the increasing popularity of sponsorship and promotions helped commercial radio see advertising expenditure rise to record levels, with £138.9 million being spent on the medium in the first three months of this year (see Commercial Radio Sees Highest Ever First Quarter Adspend).
The growth of S&P activity prompted Capital Radio to restructure its sponsorship and promotions department earlier this year, following the appointment of Linda Grant as its new strategic marketing director (see Capital Radio Hires Grant And Re-Structures Sales Arm).
Guardian Media Group also recently appointed Michael Holt as sponsorship and promotions manager at Jazz FM London (see Jazz FM London Appoints New S&P Manager).
