Virgin Radio Says ‘No’ To Protestors
The latest fuss involving Virgin Radio’s Chris Evan’s started this week, with Cliff Richard fans staging a protest outside the Virgin Radio studios after Evans refused to play the singer’s music.
There are apparently 16 protestors outside the radio building, who were enraged at Evan’s comment that he doesn’t like Cliff Richard’s music. Evan’s himself commented on his reason for not playing the tracks:”His fans (all 15 of them) are protesting that we’re not playing his new single even though he’s not the kind of artist we play on Virgin and that’s basically where the argument begins and ends.”
Chris Evan’s recently made the news when he became the first dj to simulcast a radio show on television and radio, as his breakfast show is now broadcast on Sky One every morning between 7:30 and 8:30pm (see Newsline).
The protest was dismissed by a spokesperson from Virgin Radio as a PR stunt, and stressed that the singer was not on the station’s playlist, and that no changes would be made.
