Virgin Radio Secures Sky To Sponsor V2002 Coverage

Virgin Radio has secured Sky as the six-figure sponsor of its on-air, online and on-site activity for this year’s V2002 music festival, which takes place on 17 and 18 August.

Virgin Radio is the official sponsor of V2002 and the deal will see Sky take ownership of all Virgin’s on-air and online activity in the run up to the event, as well as its coverage on the weekend.

The agreement will ensure that Sky Digital is credited throughout the campaign on all on-air promotions, sponsorship credits and associations with regular update bulletins. Sky will also receive a strong presence on Virgin Radio’s website and on-site in Virgin’s Acoustic Café, from which interviews and exclusive sessions will be broadcast.

Commenting on the deal, Steve Taylor, Virgin Radio’s group enterprise director, said: “This is an ideal partnership for us as 73% of our listeners went to a concert/festival last year and of these listeners, 72% are more likely than average to watch live music on TV. This is the therefore a great fit for both parties”.

The main sponsor for this year’s event is Virgin Mobile, which is also due to sponsor ITV2’s 10 hour coverage of the two day festival (see ITV2 To Show Virgin-Sponsored Music Festival).
