Virgin Secures Seven Figure Sponsorship Deal With HMV

Virgin Radio has signed a seven figure sponsorship deal with HMV, extending its existing partnership with the music retailer until 2004.
The deal, which will see HMV continue its sponsorship of Virgin’s Saturday afternoon Top 30 Album Chart Show for the next two years, includes on-air trials and credits featuring the strapline: “Top Dog For Music”. A different HMV music store will be showcased during the show each week and separate programme feature has been designed to raise awareness of the location of the stores across the UK.
Commenting on the deal, Steve Taylor, group enterprise director at Virgin Radio, said: “It’s great news that HMV has decided to extend its sponsorship of The Album Chart Show. As we have worked well together in the past both parties know what to expect from each other and we can work more effectively together as a result.
He added: “The show, and in turn our listeners, will benefit with competitors and additional chart information for other products such as DVDs.”
Earlier in the week, research from both Arbitron Webcast and Measurecast revealed that Virgin Radio was the most listened-to online radio station in the world during May this year (see Virgin Is World’s Number One Web Radio Station).
