Branson-owned adult rock station, Virgin 1215, has plans to start broad- casting in stereo from August 1, using the Astra satellite- a move that will enable 9 million BSkyB viewers to receive the station on an audio channel.
Virgin also plans to change the name of its hourly news service to Sky News, a continuation of the link-up, valued at around £500,000.
According to the rock music station’s chief executive David Campbell, Virgin will expand its transmitter network in the near future, in preparation for digital audio broadcasting.
