Virgin has been awarded one of the two new FM licences for Greater London due to begin broadcasting next autumn. The new service will be based on Virgin’s national AM station but will carry local news, weather and travel. The other new FM licence has been awarded to Crystal FM which will broadcast adult contemporary music. Capital Radio has retained both its FM and AM licences for a further eight years
The two new AM licences have been awarded to Radio Viva, which will offer speech and music programming in a magazine format, and London Christian Radio which will be speech based.
