A new remote-control unit was unveiled yesterday at an electronics fair in Berlin that takes voice commands and converts them into infra-red signals. The Voice Commander will be able to record any programme just by being told the day and the time. One additional feature is the command “zap it”, which makes the video fast- forward for 60 seconds past recorded ads.
Philips launch the Voice Commander in the UK in October at £99.
