Wake Up to Wogan says farewell

Breakfast Radio
Radio 2 bid farewell this morning to Sir Terry Wogan after 27 years of his breakfast programme “Wake Up to Wogan“.

The legendary 71-year-old breakfast host ended the show saying “I’m going to miss you. Thank you. Thank you for being my friend.”

The baton has now been passed to Chris Evans, who takes over the show on 11th January, with Jonnie Walker filling in over the Christmas period.

Evans visited the show yesterday and paid strong tribute to Terry Wogan saying that it was a daunting task to take over, adding “they’re massive shoes and a little me.”

Wogan is pleased that Chris Evans is his replacement and asked his loyal listeners to treat him “with the same respect and decency and devotion that they’ve always shown to me.”

Wake Up to Wogan was the UK’s most listened to breakfast radio show, with the last RAJAR release showing that 7.7 million listeners were turning in.
