Wallpaper* Launches Travel Magazine

IPC’s high-end lifestyle magazine Wallpaper* is launching a stand-alone urban travel magazine next February entitled Navigator*.

The new title, which will be published bi-annually with an A4 format and a cover price of £5.99, will give insights into the world’s most prominent cities.

Navigator* will be an extension of the popular travel section within Wallpaper* and will feature 10 different cities in each edition, providing a unique twist on the traditional city guide format. Review and listings sections will not only tell readers where to eat, drink and stay, but also which table you should be requesting, which hotel suite has the best view and which bars have the best looking crowds and on which night.

Commenting on the launch Jeremy Langmead, editor of Wallpaper*, said: “Navigator* will be a smartly written, beautifully-packaged, fast track guide for the sophisticated, design-conscious traveller, determined to see and experience the best a city has to offer. It’s very exciting to be able to publish a bi-annual that will fully utilise the extensive knowledge that our international team of cutting-edge correspondents have at their fingertips.”

Richard Johnstone, publishing director at Wallpaper*, added: “The travel guide market needs to be shaken up. Too many city guides are out of date, too long-winded or too mainstream in their approach. They’re out of touch with the cosmopolitan 30-something audience that make up the vast majority of people taking city breaks. Utilising the unique Wallpaper* outlook and renowned expertise in Navigator* will meet this growing demand and fast become the essential urban travel companion in 2004.”

IPC’s flagship women’s lifestyle title Marie Claire recently secured Vodafone Live to launch an extensive pan-European advertising campaign (see Marie Claire Secures Vodafone For Pan European Push).
