WBTV Launch Delayed

As reported on Tuesday’s *WBTV Launch May Be Delayed, WBTV, the new Warner Brothers satellite channel, will not launch today.

In a sparse joint statement with BSkyB, who is supposed to be carrying the channel, Warner says that it is having “difficulties” with the launch but will look to solve these in the near future. WBTV would not be drawn on what the difficulties were but they are believed to revolve around problems between Rupert Murdoch and Ted Turner, the owner of WBTV.

The Computer Channel launch *BSkyB Unveils New Channel however will go ahead today as planned.

…The ITC yesterday formally advertised the four digital terrestrial TV multiplexes which will form the basis of the digital broadcasting age. As reported on *TV Companies Guarantee Digital Places all the current terrestrial broadcasters are expected to apply for licences, which will be announced by next spring.
