Web Based Returns System Launched By ABC

The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) has introduced a new web based returns system which it hopes will speed up the delivery of certificates, make data submission easier and reduce the level of submission errors. Initially available to the business magazine sector, the system is due for roll out across other ABC sectors in due course.

The “eReturns” system allows publishers to electronically submit circulation data for their publications over the internet and has already been live-tested by business titles from companies including Emap Communications and Reed Business Information. Described as “intuitive and easy to use” it includes online references to rules and automatic calculations to produce input tables.

Jan Pitt, ABC’s director of business to business, said: “Internet technology offers enormous potential to ABC members, not only in making information immediately accessible and available via the ABC website, but also in improving the efficiency of the returns system .We strongly urge business publishers to make use of the eReturns system. It will improve the accuracy of submissions, provide a considerably faster and more efficient service and, in the longer term, reduce costs for all ABC members.”

Business publishers can register with ABC immediately to use the new system to submit their returns. Those that do so will be able to access their title’s data by 1 June 2002.
