Web-based TV Launches In The UK
Today sees the launch of Digital Versatile Television (DVTV), the UK’s first web-based TV channel. Broadcasting a mixture of live and archived programming aimed at 18-35 year olds, it is accessed via its website, www.dvtvchannel.com.
With the young online generation as its main target the programming output will include dramas, animation, fashion and music shows and extreme sport. Some of the first scheduled programmes include Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, a documentary on graffiti art, and Big Mouth, a music and chat show broadcasting live from the National Centre for Popular Music.
The channel will be running advertising targeting the youth sector across standard banner ads, and streamed commercial breaks between programme strands. Simon Picken, co-founder of the channel, said that opportunities for sponsorship will be made available in the future.
