Web Site Of The Week – the network

http://www.greenblob.com

Green Blob is the surreal name the network, part of Ogilvy & Mather, has chosen for its Web site. You need to surf around the blob for a while to learn the context of the ambiguous looking section links, but once you have acclimatised you will enjoy the contents.

The news section runs down what has been going on in the media over the past month, although it is currently running a month behind with April’s news. And, each senior member of the network has their own page on which to publicise media research and predict the future for the industry. There are some great caricatures of these people, so if you know them it’s worth checking them out.

Showcase does just as it says, it showcases O&M’s and the network’s major campaigns and reveals the ideas behind the messages. 21st Century, global and digital are other sections that looks at the philosophy behind the network and subtly promote its skills and experience.

This site is a great piece of PR for the network, it is a fun site to visit, but it’s like Alton Towers, it will not be as good second time around. The graphics have to be among the best on the Net, but unfortunately they also slow the site down; it can take hours to get around the place and there are likely to be several crashes on route.
