HTV’s Internet site is attractively presented but unfortunately falls short on the information provided. Throughout the site graphics are slick and classy and not overdone – they are used mainly as link boxes and page titles. The content of the site however is almost exclusively HTV programme details: there are no interactive or search facilities and as a whole the site comes across more as an ad than a source of information.
Other features which are present include a press release section (containing mostly scheduling information) and a TV Listings page with listings up until 2nd May. E-mails can be sent to programmes with questions for discussion and fact-sheets can be ordered over the net. There are a couple of rough edges which still need to be worked on: two of the links did not work and placing users’ guestbook comments live is, whilst candid, rather dangerous as some people were less than complimentary about the site.
Overall the site shows great potential. Its presentation is definitely its best feature and the actual content could be improved by including more information about HTV other than purely programme details.
