Website Of The Week – Kiss FM
Let’s not beat about the bush – there is not a great deal to see on the Kiss FM website. Pretty much what you see is what you get, you can judge this book by its cover and all the other clichés which go something like that.
As most commercial bodies with sites on the net, much thought has gone into its image, which brings me to my ‘but’….the presentation of what little content there is is pretty superb, as basically the site is full of surprises.
The website basically contains some music charts and the schedule for the station, but as well as this it features a game called ‘Sweet Billy Something’ which can only be described as the fruit of the most dark and sordid of imaginations. The game involves you finding Sweet Billy, wherever he might be, according to the clues given – an example of which is ‘Find Billy at the end of a maze of filth’ – need I say more?
The charts themselves are fronted by a rather spectacular spinning graphic which has all the makings of 3D TV and actually makes you quite dizzy! From it you can access a choice of charts and of course download music at your leisure. The site has a generally dark and enigmatic ambience to it, which works very well in the sense that it grabs your attention – even if there isn’t a great deal to keep you occupied.
At the end of the day, I would recommend you visit this site if for nothing else than to find ‘Sweet Billy’, which could be compared to a naughty version of ‘Where’s Wally’ – much naughtier! A round of applause to the people at Kiss FM for what is an original and engaging site, much more like the short, sharp shock from electricity than the languid enjoyment of a hot bath -for internet bungee jumpers rather than surfers!
