Website Of The Week – Orange

The recently launched Orange mobile phone website has been designed in the same vein as their enigmatic television commercials with the emphasis on minimalism, using mainly orange and black & white graphics, lots of photographs of happy smiling people and not a capital letter in sight. The site is very concise and easy to navigate with a frame at the bottom of the screen showing whereabouts you are and where you can go.
The main sections of the site are:
You can find information on all the phone tariffs, specialist stockists, press release information and also share information on the company. In the costs & maps section there is a neat feature called Post Code Look Up, which enables the visitor to enter their postcode to check what sort of Orange coverage the area has. This section also has a coverage map which can be viewed in great detail. However, this is about as gimmicky as this site gets and if you are looking for something with lots of little extras, this site is very limited in that respect and appears to be little more than a glorified on-line brochure for the company. However all these features are an excellent introduction to potential Orange customers with information covering all aspects of the phone network and it succeeds in its aim to inform people about its service using this medium.
