Weekly Financial Newspaper To Launch
Since first being mooted in May 1994, the launch of a financial newspaper aimed at the City of London is now expected to happen in March.
London Financial News is the idea of the previous city editor of the Mail on Sunday, Clive Wolman. When first mooted, (Newsline 11/05/94) it was suggested the paper would be daily. Now however, it seems the paper will in fact be a weekly, launching on March 4. According to the FT, the paper is backed by Chris Anderson, former owner of Future Publishing. London Financial News is also negotiating a contract with MAID, the on-line information provider, to distribute the paper electronically.
London Financial News, with a cover price of £2, is aiming for a circulation of 15,000. It will be aimed at the securities, investment and banking communities; there will be four former City editors of national newspapers on its staff.
March also sees the launch of a national business paper, Sunday Business.
