What’s On TV To Launch New Website

What's On TV Logo What’s On TV, IPC Media’s television listings magazine, will launch a website for the title in the New Year, whatsontv.co.uk.

The site will offer users a multi-channel TV listings guide, TV news and gossip, coverage of all the major soaps, previews of the day’s top programmes and an in-depth TV film guide.

Philippa Brown, managing director of IPC tx, said: “We’re delighted to be launching a website for What’s On TV. Our readers are spending an increasing amount of time online so it makes perfect sense for us to extend the powerful and trusted What’s On TV brand into the online world.”

The announcement of whatsontv.co.uk marks the third stage in What’s On TV‘s digital strategy, following the magazine’s launch of a mobile service (see What’s On TV Magazine Extends To Mobile Phones) and its extension of the brand onto the Freeview platform.

The magazine’s editor-in-chief Colin Tough, said: “We’re very excited about the launch of whatsontv.co.uk, which is going to be the online destination for the latest news and gossip on all the most popular shows and soaps on TV.”

The new website will be promoted with a print campaign across IPC Media’s portfolio of TV weeklies and women’s weeklies and a targeted online campaign.

IPC’s What’s On TV recorded the highest distribution figure in the listings guide market in the January to June 2006 ABCs, with a circulation of around 1.5 million. However, the title posted a year on year decline of almost 10% (see ABC Results Jan-Jun 2006:Decline For TV Listings And Mixed Results For Soap).
